Miles Greenberg Late October ◑ Prod. & Environment design

In a very short timeframe, we were asked to produce and design this temporary environment inspired by an Icelandic crater. It was to include the circulating public, a seven people and six-hour performance and a monumental work by Anish Kapoor. We experimented intensively in our studio and onsite to develop the environmental feel of the set (depth of water, accuracy of materials), its coherence with the site and its technical efficiency.

We have also been careful to follow a strict logic of limiting the production's environmental footprint.
The water was colored with glycerine (plants love it) and natural pigments.
The liner was folded and reused by the farmers.
Pozzolan, sand, pond structure and all scenic elements were redirected for reuse.

« Late October is a nod to the Black origins of surrealism. It is a slow-burning spatial gesture that both renews and relies upon the romantic capacities of the Black body in space, underlining our unique relationship to the fantastical. »

Duration: 6 hours
Late October is durational performance installation with neither beginning nor end. Sculptural in nature, this piece expands upon the Black body as both subject and matter. The human figure is incorporated into the exhibition space in such a way that it serves both as infrastructure and as the inhabitants whom it serves. In Late October, we lift each other up.
Late October is a nod to the Black origins of surrealism. It is a slow-burning spatial gesture that both renews and relies upon the poetic capacities of the Black body in space, underlining our unique relationship to the fantastical.
